CHAPTER 3. FUNCTION AND OPERATION OF REPAIR MODE
1. PATTERN INPUT MODE. (How to read pattern.)
There are 3 ways of how to load the patterns which were drawn on pattern design
system on the control box of machine.
Refer to the following ways mentioned under.
(1)How to load patterns.
l) Make pattern in PDS.
2) Put the disk in the FDD.(in controller)
3) Convert to "REPAIR" mode by pressing "MODE" key in "KNITTING" mode.
(Refer to the fig. 3-l : Knitting mode, fig. 3-2 : Repair mode)
4) Press "1" in repair mode.
5) LCD will be displayed like fig.3-3.
6) Press "1" again then LCD soon will be changed to fig. 3-4.
If there is no disk in FDD or error occured fig. 3-5 wiII be displayed on LCD.
7) Select file name with arrow keys (¡ç,¡æ,¡è,¡é).
8) After selection press "SET" key to load.
When loading is propery done, fig. 3-2, will be displayed and in the case of error.
fig. 3-6. will be displayed.
9) After loading, press "ESC" key to return to the previous state(Knitting mode).

2. CHAINLESS INPUT MODE
This enables the adjustment of size of socks and there are four modes.
(1)Kinds of mode for chainless system data input
(2)Specifications of mode
(A) Number of mode : 4 modes
(B) Number of steps : 50 steps (old type) or lOO steps(new ver.)
(C) Capacity of each step : 4 (old type) or l (in new ver.)
(3)Functions of keys for chainless system input mode
(A) O-9 : Numerics
(B)Quick : Speed key for heel and toe part.
(C)High : Speed key for high speed knitting in body(ankle or sole)of a socks.
(D) Mid : Speed key for pattern knitting (usually used in rubber part)
(E)Low Speed key for drum movement.
(F) Drum: When drum movement is needed. (G) D.N. Perform the function of downing the needles in heel and toe part.(option)
(H)SDC : For pattern in the sole part.
(I)¡è, ¡é/CNT : For selecting a line in a step.(old type)
(J)SET : Storing data modified or newly made.
When input or changing each step data this key must be pressed.
(K)Q'Rtn/L.STEP

Selecting the last step. If the last step is 24, select 25 and press this key.
The running machine will automatically stop when the END S/W is not "ON" at the last step.
2)In New type (new ver.)
Used to insert and total steps increased by one(in mode 3 or 4).
(L) DEL :
1)In old type
If "DEL" key is pressed, following message will be displayed on LCD and
all part or the current step can be deleted by selecting needed with arrows and
pressing "SET" key. Message : Step clear all clear ESC
2)In New type (new ver.)
Used to delete the step(current step)and total steps decreased by one(in mode 3 or 4)
(M) ¡ç¢°Press to go previous step.
(N) ¡æ¢°Press to go nest step.
(4) How to input and repair.
(A) Press "MODE" to convert to "Repair" mode in the "KNITTING" mode. (See . 9)
(B) Press "2" to convert chain input mode in "Repair" mode. (See fig. 3-l)
(C) Select any one among "1", "2", "3", "4" by using number key. (See . 1l)
(D) After selection, the first step will be "l" and the first line will be "1".
(E) Refer to the above "2-(3) Functions of keys for chainless system input mode" to input.
(F) Press "ESC" key to return to "Repair" mode after input .
(G) Press "ESC" key again to run the machine in 'KNITTING' mode.
* EXPLANATION OF CHAINLESS INPUT (In new type)
ex) to edit step 12 as followings

1) Select step l2 by using arrow ¡ç,¡æ. (Step Selection)
2) Press numerics "0", "0","2","0", by turn. (Size selection)
3) Press "HIG" key. (Speed Selection)
4) Press "SET" key to store when the data are properly input.
"DATA INPUT END !!!" message will be displayed after input.
"DATA GOOD !!!"

*EXPLANATION OF CHAINLESS INPUT (In old type)
Total numbers of a specific step cannot exceed the number selected at the top.
Refer to the following example.

On the above example, in step 8, total number is 10 and the first 5(10,9,8,7,6)revolutions
speed will go up middle, second 4 revolutions(5,4,3,2) speed will go up to high and after 1
revolutions speed will be low with one movement of pushing drum.
In this case, the total numbers of revolutions in step
8 are 10 revolutions (in the machine this will be 4 time, 10¡¿4 = 40 revolutions).
*HOW TO INPUT THE DEFAULT VALUE OF CHAINLESS. (OLD TYPE)
In this system, there are two sizes of default value are stored.
Press "TEST / B" key in the chainless input mode, then the followings will be
displayed.
WOMAN CHILD ESC |
Woman : Normal size Child : Children size
Select any size by arrows and press "set" to
give the default value automatically to the current mode. Press "ESC"
key to cancel.
*HOW TO INPUT THE DEFAULT VALUE OF CHAINLESS. (NEW TYPE)
In this system, there are 8 sizes of default value (6 for plain, 6 for terry) are stored.
Press "TEST/B" key in the chain input mode, then the followings will be displayed.
Select any mode by using arrows and press "SET" to give the default value automatically to the current mode. *Press "ESC" key to cancel.*
And then set proper size for each position(rub, leg. sole, heel, toe, ring-toe....)
Refer Appendix 5. for each mode data.

There are 4 kinds of test and each test has sub test functions.
(1) Actuator test mode
There are 5 sub test mode in actuator test mode.
* How to select
1) Press "MODE" key to convert to repair mode. (See fig. 3-1)
2) Select "3. TEST MODE" in repair mode : press "3" key. (See fig.3-2)
3) Select "1. ACT TEST" in test mode : press "1" key. (See fig. 3-7)
4) Select any one test out of 5 sub test mode.
(A)TEST FOR ALL OF THE ACTUATORS
This is to test the movement of slides in all of the actuators and to adjust the
balance.
* How to test
1) Select "1.ACT. all Test" : press "1"
2) When the test mode turns up, According to the "Test" key pressing the
actuators will run or not.
3) Press "ESC" key to return to the previous job.

(B) TEST FOR EVEN & ODD NO, OF A SPECIFIC ACTUATOR
This is to test the movement of slides in a specific actuator and to adjust the balance.
* How to test.
1. Select "2. Act Set Toggle Test" in test mode : press " 2 key.
2. When the test mode turns up, test according to the explanation on the lower part
of LCD.
3. Press "ESC" key return to the previous job.
(C) TEST FOR ORDINAL SEQUENCE OF AN ACTUATOR.
This is to test and adjust the movement of the slides of a specific actuator.
* How to test.
1. Select "3. Act Set Sequence" in test mode ; press "3" key.
2. When the test mode turns up, test according to the explanation on the lower part
of LCD

3. Press "ESC" key to return to the previous job.
(D) TEST FOR A SPECIFIC STEP OF ON ACTUATOR automatically.
This is to best a specific step of an actuator.
Automatically in and out will be repeated when "TEST / B" key is pressed.
* How to test.
1. Select "4. ACT & Step Set Auto" in test mode or press "4" key.
2. Refer to the explanation on the lower part of LCD.
3. Press "ESC" to return to the previous job.
(E) TEST FOR A SPECIFIC STEP OF ON ACTUATOR.
This is to test a specific step of an actuator.
In and out will be repeated when "TEST / B" key is pressed.
* How to test.
1. Select "5. ACT & Step Set Manual" in test mode of press "4" key.
2. Refer to the explanation on the lower part of LCD.
3. Press "ESC" to return to the previous job.
(2) COLOR YARN FINGER TEST MODE.
This has 3 sub test mode.
* How to convert to this test mode.
1. Press "MODE" to convert to "Repair" mode. (See fig. 3-1)
2. Select "3. TEST MODE" in repair mode : press "3" key. ( See fig.3-2)
3. Select "2. COLOR YARN FINGER TEST" mode : press "2". (See fig. 3-7)
4. Select any one test mode out of the 3 test mode.
A) IN-OUT TEST OF ALL FINGERS
This is to test the movement of all of the color yarn fingers and ringlet.
In this test, all of the fingers will move in order.
The order is 1F, 5F(4C), 3F(3C), 2F(2C), and 4F(1C).

*How to test.

1. Select "1. Yarn finger All In & Out" : press "1"key in color yarn finger test mode.
2. When the test mode is active, "Test/B"key for testing fingers.
3. Press "ESC" to return to the previous job.
B) Yarn Finger Set In & Out
This is to test the movement of a specific finger.
This will change from 1 to 32
* How to test
1. Select "2. Yarn Finger Set In & Out" : press "2" key.
2. When the mode is active, test according to the explanation.
3. Press "ESC" key to return to the previous job.

C) IN-OUT TEST OF A SPECIFIC "F"
This is to test the movement of color yarn fingers in a specific "F"
* How to test
1. Select "3. F Group Set In & Out" : press "3" key in yarn test mode.
2. When the mode is active, test according to the explanation on the lower
part of LCD.
3. Press "ESC" key to return to the previous job.
(3) ENCODER TEST MODE.
This is to test if there is anything wrong with the encoder.
000 Supposed 144N, numbers will be changed from 0 to 143 by orders.
If the numbers are changing from 143 to 0, the directon of encoder
revolution is in reverse.
Repair and test again.(See appendix for repair)
* How to convert.
1. Press "MODE" key to convert to repair mode. (See fig. 3-1)
2. Select "3. TEST MODE" : press "3"
key in repair mode. (See fig. 3-2)

3. Select "3. ENCODER TEST" : press "3" key in test mode. (See fig. 3-7)

*How to test
Test when the encoder test mode is active.
When you run the machine by handle, the number in the LCD will be changed
from o to Needle coun -1.
(4) CYCLE S/W TEST
This is to test if there is anything wrong with the cycle switch.
* How to convert.
1. Press "MODE" key to convert repair mode. (See fig. 3-1)
2. Select "3.TEST MODE" : press "3" key in the repair mode. (See fig. 3-2)
3. Select "4. CYCLE S/W" : press "4"
key in the test mode. (See fig. 3-7)

* How to test
When the test mode is active, the following values will be displayed under condition
that the machine is in start up position.
Reset No-Transfer Elastic : When the machine is start position
ON OFF OFF
The signals will be changed when the cycle switch is on
and off manually.

4. PRODUCTION QUANTITY SET MODE.
This is the function to set the quantity which is targeted and after completion of
target production the machine will stop automatically.
*How to convert.
1. Press "MODE" key to convert to repair mode.
2. Select "4. Set Plan" : press "4" key in repair mode.
*How to operate
1. When production Q'ty set mode is active, input needed Q'ty with numeric keys.
2. Use arrows to move from digit to digit.
3. Press "SET" key to store the production Q'ty
When "Set Plan Produce Mode" is displayed, input completed.
4. If knitting without limit is needed, press "DEL" key in this mode.
Then "Cancel Plan Produce Mode" will be displayed and production Q'ty will be
"0" in "KNIT" mode, the production plan will not be displayed.
5. Press "ESC" to return to repair mode.

*DISPLAYS IN KNIT MODE AND WHAT TO DO WHEN FINISH.
1. The value set in the mode of production Q'ty set will be displayed as production
plan in the knit mode. (See fig. 3-1)
2. When the numbers of production plan and production Q'ty are equal, the machine
will stop automatically and display as follows.
" KNIT FINISHED."
3. In order to run the machine again, the production plan should be removed in the
production Q'ty set mode.
Press "DEL" key to remove the production plan
in knit mode.

There are 4 sub mode in CHANGE POSITION MODE.
(1) ACT. POSITION CHANGE MODE.
This is to change the position of each Act. (3F,5F,1F,4F) , and test Act position.
*How to convert
1) Press "MODE"key to convert to repair mode. (See fig. 3-1)
2) Select "5. CHANGE POS" : press "5" key in repair mode. (See fig. 3-2)
3) Press "1"

* How to use
1. To repair data, move to the cursor to be changed by arrows.
2. When selected, change the num. by up down arrow key.
3. Press "ESC" key to store the input data.
4. Press "ESC" key to return to repair mode.
5. Press "Del" key when return the default data.
6. Use "Test/B" key when testing.
- Run machine with handle then each ACT. finger move in and out.
(2) STRIPE (RINGLET) POSITION CHANGE MODE.
This is to change the position of in and out of stripe (ringlet).
Caution : The number of No. 1 stripe (ringle)should be the biggest one. (in old type)
* How to convert
1) Press "MODE" key to convert to repair mode. (See fig. 3-1)
2) Select "5. CHANGE POS" : press "5" key in repair mode. (See fig. 3-2)
3) Press "2"
* How to use
1. 5 numbers of the upper part are the points of stripes to go in and 5 numbers
of lower part are the points of stripes (ringlets) to come out.
2. To change data, move to the data to be changed by arrows.
3. When selected, input 3 digit numerics.
4. Press "SET" key to store the input data.
5. Press "ESC" key to return to repair mode.
6. Press "Test/B" key for default data.

(3) Pile Air POSITION CHANGE MODE
This is to change the position of in and out of pile air device(option).

2) Select "5. CHANGE POS" --- press "5" key in repair mode. (See fig. 3-2)
3) Press "4"
* How to use
1) 5 numbers of the part are the points of each Yarn finger.
2) To repair data, move to the data to be changed by arrows.
3) When selected, change by using up and down arrow key.
4) Press "SET" key to store the input data.
5) Press "ESC" key to return to repair mode
6) Press "Test/B' key for default data.

6. Set ROS POSITION MODE
To control ROSSO ringlet with controller.
Refer fig. 3-18.
"Plain" means plain size after ending "TOE". (fall down the ringlet which used in sole)
"In/C" means count(size) for linking position.
"In/R" means the number of ringlet for this position.
"Out/C" means count(size) for outer positions.
"Out/R" means the number of ringlet for this position.
Press "Test/B" key to input default data.
